FILTER Begins Adding Dates To Schedule
March 26, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports that FILTER has begun filling in dates on its upcoming live schedule as the band gears up for the May 13 release of its first new album in six years, "Anthems for the Damned". The trek kicks off on April 24 with a show in Austin, Texas, followed by a mix of headlining gigs and radio festivals. Frontman Richard Patrick told The Pulse of Radio that FILTER fans won't be disappointed. "I think the headlining stuff, we're playing, like, at least an hour and a half to two hours, and it's everything from all the records, a lot of the soundtrack stuff, just everything that people have been requesting over the years," he said. "And, you know, the thing is, is that, you know, I quit drinking, I quit smoking, and I can sing really, really well, and it really makes my job easy and fun."
The first single from "Anthems for the Damned" is called "Soldiers of Misfortune". Richard Patrick said the song was inspired by a letter from a FILTER fan who joined the Army reserves to get his college tuition paid. He was sent to Iraq and killed in a rocket attack just days later.
FILTER and DISTURBED performed along with JESSICA SIMPSON and the PUSSYCAT DOLLS for U.S. troops in Kuwait earlier this month. The concert was webcast on MySpace and will be shown on FX on April 12.
